What are People Doing About the Dentist During Covid19?

Everyone knows WHERE they’re supposed to be during the Coronavirus. Stay Home! Stay Safe!! If you have your annual wellness doctor’s visit, then talk to your doctor with a virtual home computer exam. Stressed out and need to talk to your therapist….stay home, do that virtually as well. If you need food, arrange for Instacart to bring it to your door. And what about “work”…..stay home for that too. Our homes have become like mission control. But what about the dentist?? Honestly, I really don’t know what people are doing. Obviously, if you have an abscess tooth…..you gotta have that looked at. But what about, that 6 month teeth cleaning that you usually get? I’ve heard that a dental visit can be a “high risk” event. Think about it…..we are supposed to be wearing masks…..but at the dentist we take our mask off and the dentist or dental hygienist really get in there. Actually, it is probably more high risk for the dentist than it is for the patient. The patient is the one taking off the mask and blowing it out god knows where. Another thought is, especially if you have been using your dentist for a while……does it usually have that cleanliness and sterile like feeling when you go there? Is the air fresh? Floors clean? Dental chair wiped since the last patient sat there? If something does not feel right, then get the @#$% out of there! Stay away from any people, doctors or patient’s who militantly claim their 1st amendment rights are being violated when they are forced to wear a mask. MY FINAL ADVICE….space out your appointments a little. Just because the dentist calls and says your six months are up and you better come in, does not mean you have to. You can even say “the Coronavirus makes me a little nervous….I think I’m going to skIp my teeth cleaning this year.” It makes no sense to have beautiful clean teeth, if at the same time you come away with the Coronavirus. Use your judgement. Smarter Patients, Smarter Healthcare!! #Coronavirus #Covid-19
